The sound of footsteps were barely audible in the torrential downpour of rain. It was night, and thunder seemed to shake the earth itself as Zephyr was running for her life. Why did it have to be tonight? Couldn't she have just a little longer? These pleads for mercy were of no avail now that He was here. She had no choice but to run for her life. A while back, she decided to take a route through a dense forest to try and force her pursuer off her trail. Bad move. Now sticks and tree limps lashed out at her face and snagged her heavy cloak as her antagonist effortlessly bounded through the forest, over obstacles and under limbs.
She should have never made a deal with a werewolf in the first place. She knew that the penalty for not upholding her side of the deal was death. She was quite skeptical as to their claims to even be werewolves, or that such creatures even existed. Now she saw what arrogance she had, and now she's being chased through a forest at night in the rain by a bloodthirsty wolf creature.
Finally she stopped, rested for a second, and turned to face the beast. She was reluctant to use her powers, she didn't have complete control over them yet, but she saw that she had little other options. As the werewolf bounded towards her, she closed her eyes and held out her hands. When her eyes opened again, they were glowing a light blue.
A new, shattering sound entered the forest as the rain froze and became like thousands of tiny daggers stabbing at the ground. The beast reared in surprise and pain as he was met with a wall of icy knives. Within seconds it was dead, pierced in every imaginable place with ice. Soon the normal sound of the rushing rain resumed.
Zephyr fell to one knee, weakened by the sudden and excessive use of her powers. She grabbed a limb of a nearby tree to pull herself back to her feet and stumbled along the narrow path through the woods. Soon, she came to a road, one that led to a large, abandoned estate. Well, she assumed (and hoped) that is was abandoned.
As she made her way to the door, she found it unlocked and unguarded. Not to her surprise, of course. It was a few minutes later, after some exploring and wandering, that she came to a hall where a piano rested. She sat down and played a soft, soothing, slow tune that went well with the sound of the rain pattering on the roof.
