Earth, as it once was called, was slowly becoming unstable. Dictators were raising to power, countries were going to war, everything was thrown into chaos.
2012 came. The "End of the World." Everyone was waiting for something to happen, for a meteor to hit, for the Sun to explode, for someone to drop a nuclear bomb.
Nothing happened. At least, nothing truly noticeable. A man appeared before the people, claiming to be the one they called "God." He called himself Raighlot. Raighlot had seen the world in turmoil and wanted to bring back peace, so he had taken on a physical form to help in a more direct approach. Seeing his eternal rival trying to right what had been wronged on the mortal plane, Durtrykil also manifested a physical form. He was often referred to as "Satan," or the "Devil." He liked how everything was, in darkness and in sin, and did his best to thwart Raighlot's plans.
Then, Sephrema appeared as well. "Mother Nature," as she was known as. She disliked how Raighlot and Durtrykil were getting directly involved with the mortals and wanted to put a stop to their meddling. Raighlot was stubborn and wanted to put the world back into a safer era, so he did not cease his involvement. Durtrykil also refused, not wanting Raighlot to gain any sort of advantage. In defeat, Sephrema created swords for them both, as well as herself. She gave to Raighlot the sword called Ninyeta, and to Durtrykil she gave Revanden. She kept the sword called Lodinvin for herself. Sephrema then told the two rivals to fight it out with these weapons to decide the victor, while she would watch and judge.
Unfortunately, Raighlot and Durtrykil were evenly matched. Instead of fighting a short fight, their battle began to draw out for days, then months, and then years. Their fighting caused many natural disasters, changing the geography of the world so drastically that maps were soon rendered useless, for the world was changing so much that one map would not be consistent for long. Raighlot's sword gave him the power to cause storms, tornados, hurricanes, typhoons, monsoons, tidal waves, and so much more. Revandan gave Durtrykil the power to cause earthquakes, erupt volcanoes, and ultimately create and destroy the landscapes.
Eventually, the physical plane became completely unstable. No one could advance in their own technologies. Such luxuries were beginning to falter and fail. In fact, the world began to regress. People could no longer rely on the advances of man, for the world would not support it, and if it did, it would soon be destroyed in the continuing battle between Raighlot and Durtrykil.
Finally, tired of fighting, Raighlot and Durtrykil put all of their remaining strength into one final blow. Both of their physical bodies were destroyed in this attack. There was no victor, there was only a draw. Raighlot and Durtrykil would not give up. They attempted to force Sephrema to create new bodies for them, since she still had all her power and strength, having not participated in the battle. She refused outright, angering both of them. They tried to claim her physical body, but she destroyed it herself to prevent them such an opportunity.
Both still stubborn and unwilling to concede, they both rested themselves to regain their strength. When they resurfaced to the physical plane, they found themselves in bodies that were not of their own creation. It was a curious predicament. Eventually, they were able to get the owners of the bodies to let them take complete control, continuing their undecided battle. First, they relocated their lost swords to gain the advantage. But, before they could start fighting once again, Sephrema, also in a body not of her own power, stopped them and informed them that she had made it so they could never create their own bodies again in an effort to stop their fighting.
This had little effect, though. Raighlot and Durtrykil continued their fight, using the bodies of what they were calling their "Incarnates." They created armies to help them fight. They made it known to the mortals that they were at war. This was the start of the Incarnate Era and the Incarnate Wars.
So many years have passed, many Incarnates have lived, fought, and died. The inhabitants of the world have dwindled to a small number, isolated to a region of land surrounded by a lifeless wasteland. This area was named Chargin Circle, where many different races make their homes and attempt to live in peace while Raighlot and Durtrykil continue their eternal battle and Sephrema looks on in dismay.
The Incarnates now must find each other and kill the other one first so they can have reign over Chargin Circle for however brief a time until the next Incarnate comes and takes over. They must build and rebuild their armies from scratch every time. So will you choose Good or Evil? Or will you be Neutral? Having second thoughts, yet?
